Vive la difference

Still a damn fine example of the S but engine oil level a teensy bit lower?

I run mine on good semi-synthetic, and nearer the bottom of the oil window (hot after a wait) than up to the half-way mark, as the oil usage seems to be markedly less.

Excellent video

Amazing stuff, and much of the advice is still good despite changes in road surfaces, tyres, brakes and lighting -not to mention more cylinders and loads horsepower. Staggering that they set up so many quite serious accidents (H&S people would not allow a small team to do that now, without rams ...

Too good to be true?

Spotted this cheap M/c satNav unit - http://amzn.to/YzxeIl on Amazon UK. I can't run to the spon needed to buy a Zumo 660 etc, or even a TT Rider, so this might be attractive. Anyone here know more about its origins, or the suggestion that it will work with only some Bluetooth headsets?

Alternative sitnav bag

I have one of these on my S - http://bit.ly/Y9WssE and its pretty good at keeping the weather out. Colin at Ridermount offers several mounting options and good advice 01473 823351 and I now have a mini video camera from him too. My power supply is a temporary thing (OK its been there 2 yrs but still...

Fed up with icy roads-

Excerpt here http://youtu.be/NszPzb-fbs0

Have cleaned the lens of the camera housing now, and today's pics are coming out much clearer.

Far Out! (East)

I have thought of going to Brno, great pictures - now I am more likely to follow your trail -well done both.

Having visited a couple of foreign MotoGPs I am now more interested in the close racing of WSBK, and the chance to get a bit closer to the action.

Epic saga of the paralever bearings

Having had at least 4 sets of these damn bearings fitted, to fix a varierty of rear end woes (steady there guys!) the design has to be part of the problem...these bearings swing beack and forth in use just a few degrees -nothing like a one-way rotation duty. If I'd known years back how many sets of ...

JFDI

As Posky says just 'kin DO it -you'll never look back! Touring tips: -always have a second pair of gloves, and socks -fill tank every night, and watch out for the petrol stations that (esp in France) only work on local credit cards, not UK ones -breakdown cover is good for peace of mind, but better ...

Pads (not the Tena type)

For last couple of years I have been running Carbon Lorraine pads, from Crossan MC's of the famous Visor Shop http://www.thevisorshop.com/acatalog/Brake_Pads.html as the first set were a step up in feel, great in all weathers, yet they don't seem to take material off the discs. In fact I oredred ano...

Clutch

Well mine had been abused by previous owner and began messing about in mid-30,000 miles band, so I bought an entire kit and knuckled down. When I got in there, I discovered that the problem all along was a failed (leaky) hydraulic actuator, which (memory) is around £70 instead of £280 for a clutch; ...

Happy Christmas

As DT says, to all Trixters...you have been a great support to me, without which I would not have enjoyed putting 60,000 miles on my S.

Enjoy the holiday, although for many it will be wet if not flooded.
See you next year!

Belty noises

Since the vee-belt runs inside a ventilated casing, it can pick up rubbish...in my area there are a lot of small flints, and by the time a belt change is due it has become more noisy (a ticky-ticky noise) as the small pieces of stone have worked their way though the belt to rub on the pulley faces. ...
