Forkin ell
Update on sticky forks... Read back to 'r550S' post from 2004, and it dawned on me that at rebuild they were refilled with too little oil. Wizard wheeze - rather than remove forks -requiring new fork seals) I could whip off the air bleed screws and use a dipstick to check the oil level. Straightened...

Thanks for this tip Nick (which I spotted since returning from Easter weekned so def willl look at Kington as a base for the next bash. Despite the brass monkey weather (it was pretty much everywhere in UK) we really enjoyed stay near Hay-on-Wye (at the Baskerville Arms PH in Clyro) and great roads ...

Sticky Forkers
* Did the title remind you of a Stones album? * In last winter's major overhaul of the beloved 11s I had the scabby alloy fork stanchions powder-coated, and the fork seals and oil replaced on reassembly. Since then when I get on and off the bike, I have sometimes noticed s-ti-c-ky-ne-s-s in the exte...

Gotta be worth a try, as the FF is two-ply, plastic inner with a skin of Carbon.
Just don't overdo the heat, or the two layers may separate -and you don't want that happening on the move...

-worth experimenting with reduced pressures, as you will gain feel and grip. Tyre fitters please comment! I had several pairs of Diablos and loved them, but they are very very stiff carcasses and my fillings were coming loose! All the manufacturers quote 2.5, 2.9 bar (39, 42 psi) as a staring point,...

Dry roads, bright sun? Only one thing to be done. Rushed home to swap zoot suit for Halvarssons, and here's a clip of Sunny Suffolk: http://youtu.be/_CGcaTwt75w If you like this, do come over an play in East Anglia as there are lots of interesting roads, usually midweek like here with not much traff...

Great that you already have a Lennies and looking for Y-piece - however: #1 the K&N replacement filter is similar in size to the original, and you can cheaply improve on that, to get a solid improvement. Search here for 'Val Singleton' a/f mod which has been a massive boost for my S. Note you ca...

New to the S
Good choice - the S is one of the last of the great all-rounders, it'll do anything from 2-up touring to scratching a track day. As others have mentioned, the seat was quite thin from the factory, and hardens with age...plenty of notes here as some of us have rebuilt them...and experiment with a few...
