As the subject says. I’m struggling with my hands, even with the bars above the triple clamp.

Hah!
It’s a last ditch attempt to make it properly rideable for me.
I’ve recently altered the coding plug to take account of my cat bypass pipe and it’s made a considerable difference to how smooth it is now. So it’s much more agreeable now. Vibration was the biggest issue for my hands, it was making them numb rather quickly.

So now I feel the comfort would be finished off with slightly higher bars. Going to mess with the angle a little too to see how that helps. I’d rather not get rid as I had it off meerkat before he passed away so it has sentimental value. The only other Beemer I’d consider is an F800ST/ GT. Otherwise it’s a VStrom/ Versys/ Tracer type bike.

Grip puppies really help with the vibes from the bars.

This doesn’t sound right to me, vibration on the r1100s has never been that bad for me. Has bike had it’s throttles balanced? The best thing I have done re smoothing out the bike is putting one of John Gemi’s chips in it but it was never about vibrations for me. Brad

Yeah I check/ adjust the throttle balance quite regularly. It got worse with a decat but changing the fueling has helped no end. It’s probably as good as it could ever be now.

The biggest issue for me personally is my hands. I’m getting the beginnings of arthritis so it easily sets my hands numb. It’s mostly down to position now. I’m going to experiment with clipon angle and see how that effects me.

Since I’ve had the bike I’ve had a bit of a love/ hate relationship with it.

Might be able to help you out. I'm sure I bought a pair of risers and bar some time ago but never fitted them as the triple clamp mod was sufficient for me. I'm just back from holiday today so I'll have a rummage in my shed and let you know if I can find them.

Thanks!

I’m half coming to the conclusion that I may have to swap for something else. It’s not really agreeing with me. :(

I'm in the same position as yourself but i found that bar risers can create other problems when using the oe seat and if i modified the seat then the pegs wouldn't be in the correct position , i've ended up back with the bars below the top yoke :? . Definitely worth a try though before exchanging bikes.

I thought the same actually, the Seat isn’t really shaped for sitting upright. I rode to Wales over the weekend and did over 200 Miles. I came back not really in love with it at all. I want to like it but it doesn’t like me. My back and hands were in quite a bit of pain. I guess the triangle just doesn’t fit me. Shame really as I can do 200 miles no probs on the Vespa with just a little back ache due to sitting so upright. Should be the other way round.

Gutted as it has sentimental value. On the upside the engine is smooth as anything now.
