Looks like we have an infestation of spammers, don't know if there human or bots but was wondering if it's possible with the new software to insert the character identification box

I've just changed the anti-spam tactics on registration to try and stop this latest infestation... Let's see how long it takes them to break that... I'm in Germany at the mo' so not a great deal I can do until I get back on Friday... I the mean time, Steve and I will keep deleting them as we spot them.

Apologies,

Paul
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

In the end I've made a change to the new user authentication so it has to be sanction by Paul or me, rather than confirmation email to the user. This way is a bit more laborious but will stop the automated attacks hopefully

What is the advantage for the spammers? Surely with the random text about trainers they are easy to spot and no one clicks the links?

Can someone explain what they gain?

The advantage for the spammers is that you can get as much spam as you want ....says he remembering the brilliant Monty Python spam sketch.
