Just found this hidden away in a drawer
This would have been summer 1998
Mk2 TDM 850. Probably the most disappointing bike I owned

Loved everything about it apart from the engine.
The 270 degree crank was supposed to mimic the power delivery of the V twins that were in vogue at the time.
It fell way short, lumpy and almost unridable at low revs in town, and a bit asthmatic at the top end.
The good news was the mid-range was very torquey. The bad news was when you were exploiting this the clutch would slip.
However it was quick enough to outpace a chipped ST220, so the officer informed me when he lit the lights
Overall wasn't sorry to see it go
