Val Henshaw, widow of Steve Henshaw as in The Steve Henshaw Gold Cup. Steve was killed in the IOM on '89 avoiding the cash of Jamie Whitham. He's race number was 27 and this year was the 27th anniversary of his death.

Used to have to deal with him when I was at Kawasaki, as he used to come scrounging bikes to ride on. Very arrogant and full of himself, rude and generally not pleasant to deal with.

Perhaps why he isn't as popular then! Still was a great rider!

Hi Mitch, Oliver's Mount - it's racing on closed public roads in parkland / hill, near Scarborough, NE England. They do hillclimbs and rallying there too. More info here:

Hmmm, Just thinking back, 1976, the only time I have been to the racing in Scarborough several of those men (and lots who are no longer with us) on the line raced most weekends, I was 18 years old and on my first holiday with the current Mrs Al.
We had to cross the Humber on a ferry, and they had model boats having a war in Peasholm park!! We went back in July 1980 for our first wedding anniversary and have not been back since, bit of a shame that.

Aye, I crossed the Humber on that Ferry and in 1976 the suspension bridge was well under construction. Red hot summer that year and Scarborough was a great place for a young male to be. I can tell you all of an ironic tale involving one Barry Sheene at Scarborough. Mid 90`s and late in the season sep/oct time Bike Week was created. Ago came, Sheene came and a host of events were put on. My electrician pal and laverda Jota owner was working at the miners rest home in Scalby 3 miles nw of Olivers Mount. A helicopter landed in the gardens and the gardener was beckoned by the pilot to point out where Olivers Mount was, Sheene was in the chopper, He has been there many times his dad raced there. It is the highest point in Scarboro. Unmistakable. Quality. BTW Folklore has it that it derives it`s name from the inconvenient visit to the town by one Oliver Cromwell laying siege to the towns Castle during the Royalist war. I lived on Olivers Mount for 10 years, the races were a fcukin nuiscance. A lot of stuff got nicked from our gardens, I could not go up to the teapot for my cuppa, walk my dog up and around, very, very inconvenient
