Oh, one o' them hermatites, eh?

'hermatite' is a reddish-brown to silver-gray metallic mineral. Hematite occurs as rhombohedral crystals, as reniform (kidney-shaped) crystals, or as fibrous aggregates in igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks. It is the most abundant ore of iron, and it is usually slightly magnetic. Chemical formula: Fe2O3. :?

Ok this is the last time I ever try a jeu de mots here on boxertrix...

1. I was doing a malapropism, substituting "hermatite" for "hermaphrodite", because the original post said "his name is lassie".

2. "Hermatite" is or was a product which came in a tube, and acted as a gasket.

3. "Hematite" has nothing to do with anything, but thanks for the really interesting information. :)

I agree, but then he assumes you could get away with calling a boy "Lassie" - a trick only Johhny Cash celebrates in song!

I am reliably informed that the character Lassie was actually a she-dog, but in the best traditions of british pantomime was played on screen by a he-dog.

So your all right, or wrong.

'Pal' the first ever dog to play the legendary dog "Lassie" in Lassie Come Home (1943), appeared in the pilot episode of this TV series (broadcast as the first two episodes). It was his last appearance before his death in 1958.
