Best performance mod i ever made

Postby Dai wiskers » Fri Jul 27, 2012 8:57 am

Was fitting a HID lighting kit to the dip beam

OK it only works after dark but what a difference the original high was ok the dip abysmal[spellin] after fitting a 35W HID dip i thought the main had blown when i switched it on it made no difference whatever i pulled over and got off the bike to check yup the candle was glowing

The 1100 has a projector type light unit so the HID works perfectly with no scattered light or black holes

Recomended to everyone Dai
My bike shines when it rains!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

keep meaning to do this to mine Dai as the original is one of the worst lights I've ever used. I think my 6v GN400 was better :)

On a positive note I guess it keeps the speeds down at night :)

Your right there i think my old BSA had better lights and they were made by the prince of darkness [ Joe? Lucas] i got a car H1 set so i have spare everything i used to carry a spare halogen bulb just incase but dont bother now
It realy is worth doing even with a smoke cover on[i leave it on now] i can see far better than with the halogen bulb without the cover
My bike shines when it rains!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would work! but i only weigh 11 i dont think i would be healthy enough to ride if i lost 3

Seriously fitting the HID gave the same sort of improvement [if not more] as fitting a Cibie Z beam headlight [for all of you old enough to remember them] did in the 70's i fitted the cibie Z beam to a suzuki kettle and thought then these should be a standard fitment to all bikes, untill now i have always wanted another Z beam. Now we have a affordable option in HID
Keep safe Dai

There's a chap called Les Wassell who sells superb kits over on the UKGser website and also via his own website http://www.hid50.com

I can vouch for Les's products and service, as do loads of other guys on the GS website, nice friendly guy who is a chef by trade, but will also fit the units for you as well.

Good products, particularly for any BMW with the canbus electrickery fitted, as all units are compatible and work without problems. He's not the cheapest, but quality and service are second to none in my humble opinion.

He also does the upgraded anti-glare ceramic core bulbs too, very bright 8)

I have no direct assocation with Les, other than being a very satisfied customer

My K12GT has a factory HID, I replaced the two 55w H7 main beam lights with those Osram ones that get highly rated. When you flick to main bean the HID stays on so all 3 lights flood the road. It makes the K very safe at speed at night, and makes car drivers dip very quickly :)
