What is in your opinion the best sport touring tire for the 11s and why...

Me personally I like the michelin pilot road 3 with the metezler roadtech z8 a close 2nd. Which one of these tires have better dry traction?

Tyres are very subjective and everyone will have a different opinion. All premium tyres, Michelin, Bridgestone,Pirelli, Dunlop etc will perform equally well in the dry and outperform any rider on the public roads. The wet weather performance is where the differences show themselves.
Any of the dual compound sports touring tyres are fine, personally I like BT 023s but have now moved to the replacement T 30s. 3,000 miles so far and no flattening off of the profile which is amazing .

Mine is on Pilot Road 2s at the moment and I really like them.

I used to swear by Conti Road Attacks on previous bikes.

Just avoid anything from Maxxis - the grip levels are good, but they wear too quickly.

I am still using Pilot Road 2's on my ST and hope I can still get some more

Well, I've just scrubbed in my pair of new Michelin PR2s: 1500 miles in a week . Blown away by them. Dry grip well beyond my ability/bravery (no surprise). Confidence inspiring in the wet. Seem to warm up quickly, though proper cold temperatures will be the acid test. Utterly neutral steering - bike rolls into turns predictably at a constant rate. Not sure how much of this is down to these being good tyres and how much due to my old Pirelli STs being shagged: front had a triangular profile and rear squared off. Guess time and miles will tell.

It seems from reviews that most of the latest generation of ST tyres are very very good.

I have been sticking with Dunlop Roadsmart and I can't believe how good they are, wet or dry. I got 6000 out of the last rear, the front is currently on about 7 and due for change.

Now the Roadsmart 2 is out, the original Roadsmart can be found at a reasonable price if you look around.

Herb I think you are right. I have at present a set of Conti Motion,s and I can,t fault them in any way. I ride to the edge of tyre, they turn/roll in really well, confidence inspiring in the wet. I have only done 400 miles as yet so longevity is unknown but so far great and a good buy at £170 balanced and fitted to loose wheels.

MY Current ST has again Michelin Pilot Road 2's (the old style tyre) which have done just over 6k and the rear is still a good profile so I expect it to do 8k as they did on the 1100s. And I have just got another set ready for the spring from M&P for £135 delivered. Happy days

Totally agree with Eyore i`ve always used Bridgestones to me the best !!
I like the softer compounds 016 pro`s 010`ss and so on But tyre wear is quick ( lucky to get a 1000 miles )and becomes pricey.. So tried the new touring compound of the T30s and was gob smacked. Still running the 016 pro on the front. And now scraping fotpegs and bellypan 2up

I need to check what I have on the Pan 1300. Whatever they are, they're good enough for me to be dragging bits of bike along the road in the twisty bits.

So today I finally bought a new set of rubbers
And the winner is!......a brand spanking new set of Pirelli Angel GTs
Never heard anybody on a r11s with them but afters reading all
The recent tire reviews the Pirellis bested the pr3's won my vote. Tires should be here and mounted by the weekend after Christmas, can't stinking wait!
I'll post my thoughts of them after some riding time to let everyone know how they work out. Thanks again folks for all of your input!

Well if you have to ask then .... ? but since you asked I go for the cheapest I can, they all square off anyway and they all show their metal eventually. I am thinking the Maxxis of today may be streets better than the top dog of 10 years ago, A good pothole or roofers tack is indiscriminate. Try em all and you tell us what you think?

Why spend top brass on tyres for a machine that only pootles about, (relatively speaking)?
