R1100S Motronic Coding Plug

Postby A.J.T » Mon May 25, 2015 8:36 am

According to the table, the coding plug on my R1100S (with ‘Y’ pipe), should be Light Brown and connect pins 30 and 87a. Strangely, the plug fitted was Grey and connected pins 30,86, and 87. Replacing the plug with a wire link provides the correct coding.

(The coding plug can be found in the black plastic box to the left side of the headlight).

The bike now seems to be more powerful.

Its possible that you did add a little more by changing the CCP. I did some back-to-back tests a while ago:

Interesting this (and your link to the detailed tests you did).

I'm servicing my '04 2-spark BCR at home at the mo. when I put it all back together - it will be a standard bike, running K&N filter, and decat pipe on the original Laser can.

I will try the de-cat jumper in the relay socket this time, see if she runs not quite so rich. However, I expect installing a new K&N might complicate diagnostics a bit (as I'm still on standard, not re-chipped Motec).

Thanks

Notice "25kW" references in the second column of the table?
Notice also the these CCP connections show Pin 86 connected to earth (Pin 30)?

If you have Pin 86 connected to Pin 30 (irrespective of any other links), you will drop 25kW (33hp). }:-O

I'm about to finalise an instrument panel push-button to switch between the two modes so I can drop 25kW for wet weather riding.

Definitely needed because of the extra low to mid-range torque c/- longer GS intake tubes.

:D

Real torque curves don't have a first derivative. :-^)
