I knocked these up today, being a tight arse and not wanting to pay BMW £600+. They're a bit overkill, being made from 5mm Dural I had left over from some engine plates I recently made. I can live for weeks out of a tank bag, but Mrs Adam has a very unsuitable Sportsbike and wants to do a spot of touring with me. I recon they'll stop an RPG, or whatever the Continental Police use to apprehend speeding foreign motorcyclists :x

Hi Adam,

Which panniers are you planning to mount on your new supports?

Cheers,

Paul (fellow R1200RS rider)

Don't know really. Contemplating some S/h hard cases of EBay since they won't be used very often, or some Oxford throw overs I've found in the attic. I did make the plates with a thought of strapping some 20lit Kriega bags on, but I'll give it more thought when I get more idea about what Mrs Adam wants to take. A tank and tail bag usually does me for a long trip, so I'm in unknown territory here :D I flatly refuse to ride a bike with a top box

Seriously ?

You can get a SHAD kit for £400, if you really object to BMW's prices....
