No experience of the 690 but as a KTM rider myself (RC8) I use www.ktmforum.co.uk as a source of useful info. Just don't expect all the forum posts to be useful ;-)........they can be a sarcastic bunch![/i]

A mate of mine has had 2 of them, (1st was stolen) he lives very near Milton Keynes, I had a brief go on it and from roundabout to roundabout it was a HOOT  bit viby for longer journeys, but as a second bike brilliant, possibly a bit heavy on rear tyre wear, but on the other hand you'd never replace the front lol

My mate has one and loves it for shortish blasts and being a hooligan on! he is in his 60`s.
I have a supermotard 660 and they are fun, but swapping between it and the 1100 is entertaining for the first couple of miles until you remember where all the switches are and how much the front end dives under braking, but some of that is probably age(mine) related!!

I test rode one of these 4 times about 2 bikes ago and loved it but I didn't think I could stomach it as my only bike BUT if you have the cash they make an amazing second (or third or forth) bike.

Really fun and actually really fast (up to about 70mph) light flickable and easy to loft the front!

The lack of dealers in Scotland put me off as well I'd need to go to Perth anytime I ended anything AND the 690 can be a fickle beast and it seems to depend on how good your mechanic is.

I'm a member on the KTM forum and there as loyal to the orange as most of you are to the boxer!!
