L'oiseau noir

Postby Gromit » Sat Jan 13, 2007 8:52 am

Just bought Rods' Blackbird off him - it's one of the very last carb'd bikes in black (ie the fastest model in the fastest colour). My word it nips along a bit...tad flat below 4k but nail the b*stard and above 7k it goes 'wooosh'. I then think 'gosh'.

Pics to follow this avo when I've finished today's bonding* session with it.

*This consists of getting to know it via some AutoGlym products and a few polishing cloths and Pro-prep etc etc.

That rear must be very square for it to stand up without a stand, I think you should have a word..

I can just hear your neighbours, from behind their curtains.............

"He's cleaning another bike, Mildred. Christ - he's got the feckin' camera out again!"

Is there a bike model available in the UK during the last ten years that hasn't been photographed in front of those garage doors?

Well it's fairly nippy I have to admit. :)

So much nicer than a VFR800. But you know the worst thing about it? That poxy, stupid one-button indicator switch; it's crap. Wearing winter gloves makes it even worse.

Had one of those before the R1100S. Great bike but with nothing below 4,000 (as you found out) the temptation is to ring its neck and then find a nice man in a blue uniform wanting to look at your licence (for a year).

Bought the R1100S to keep my sanity and never regretted it.

So when is this 'Old enough to know better' supposed to kick in?

I,ve also joined the darkside along with richard.Well blue side if i,m to be perfectly honest.Soon will be black though.Laser cans and i think a dyno jet kit. Will check when i service it.Blimey richard, yours does look shiny and new!You aint wrong when you get to the other side of 7000 rpm.I thought the clutch was slipping on the way home.Turned out that the rear was struggling for traction on the shitty roads.
Will post some photos when i,ve blinged it up abit.
