ive gone for this particular bike because its only done 1523 miles from new, one owner and has the luggage etc. It's got some really nasty paint flaking on the engine casing but not from abuse. Just looks like poor finish.
Once that's dorted it will hopefully do a nice AQlps trip, maybe the Wales trip and the I'll moe it on most likely.
Handling on these is prety good on the twisty stuff. At high speed they do tend to wallow a bit however the 900 is better than the early 850s apparently.

I had an earlier 850 version from 1993 to 1996. It is possible that the finish improved with later versions, but the one I had virually dissolved before my eyes, and this was in Switzerland where they are not keen on using salt on the roads. After seven years of all-year round use in salt-happy Scotland my R1100S looks miles better than my TDM did after three.
I know that the gearbox was improved in later models (of the TDM), which is just as well as I could shock an entire town-centre into silence by simply changing from first to second gear.
Pogo-sticks for front suspension aside, it was nice to ride in the mountains (I lived in Switzerland then), but my first paralever BMW (an R850R) was a revelation after that TDM.
