Hello,

I'm a newbie as far as BMWs are concerned - have admired them for the last 40 years or so. Saw my R1100s on Gumtree, fell in love with the photos......got the bike. Black, 1998, 59k on the clock and looks as if it has been cherished. Can't afford the insurance but come March will be able to add it to my classic bike insurance. Looking forward to getting to understand the bike via this forum. :?:

Welcome , I've owned my S since '03 and i'm not sure whether I fully understand it yet  but with the help of everyone on this forum and the WWW in general i've managed to keep it running ok myself.

Thanks for the heads up, Paul. I'll look out for the Reivers Weekend. Maryport to Jedburgh would be a nice ride out.

That's quite an achievement, Nab. The bike is pretty sophisticated compared to any I'm familiar with. However, being a BMW, I'm hoping it will just be routine maintenance that I will need to doing. Any repairs it may need, the first thing I'll do is consult Haynes and then shout for HELP on the forum
