hello from portsmouth...new to BMW's

Hello everyone, ive just bought a yellow '99 r1100s purely for commuting, got it cheap as it had been sat for a few years and has needed some TLC. plugs, oilchanges, filters, filter box emptying of rainwater, new seat cover, new grips and a few other minor things but got it through its MOT easy enough now time to start using it.
Ive always had Jap, Italian or Austrian machines so this old boxer engined shafty has been out of my comfort zone for the last couple of weeks but now getting my head around it. thought it best to join a beemer forum mainly as a encyclopedia of other peoples knowledge!!
