whoops! look what the cat just draged in

Postby das bike u1100s » Sat Feb 09, 2008 7:56 pm

Hello, finaly joined up after sneaking in through the back door to browse the web site.
Have a 2004 bcr, owned from new. bloody good mount & different, easily found when propped up against a jap mule in a bike park!
Can anyone with a 2004 bcr give me the ultimate way to fit a garmin sat nav, having studied previous ways listed on this site everyone has their own ideas. one more year abroad trying to read a map with my failing eye sight will do me a mischief!
Thanks
Paul

Welcome Paul, I would favour the clutch reservoir mount myself, but i suppose it depends on which sat nav unit you own?

im going for the garmin 550 zumo, i think?, i did find a link for mounting it on the clutch reservoir which looks like it may do the job.
other bits i have fitted are a lindenburg exhaust, now it sounds great but back in my youth (yam RD400E) i tinkered with things i know nowt about & ended up with a hole in the piston, so i intend to go down the power commander route

Garmin Zumo is best, but is quite imposing on the R1100s.

I have one, that I mount from the clutch cover using a 1" RAM arm. It is as big a unit as I would want - mounted from the bars. I haven't noticed any impact on steering stability at speed.

The Quest suits the R1100s quite well, but was only really a sensible option at the time when it was the choice between Quest/2610.

There are several mounts available that secure the Zumo to the Fork brace, but you have to move your left hand further to operate the unit.

There are a few threads on this forum that include photos of the different mounting arrangements - have a trawl through. Some threads will include links to older threads, so don't miss out on some of the threads from 2005/6.
