My wobble around Norway Sweden and Finland...

Postby Mister C (Marsh) » Wed Aug 14, 2013 6:18 pm

:D
I know it was a long time ago and not on a BM but back in 2004 I went on a little mission... 1, to go past the artic circle and 2, to put flowers on the grave of a hero of mine, Jarno Saarinen.
I sailed across to southern Norway from Newcastle, sadly this route is no longer available. What followed was my best ride experience of my life, up to now. Over 2 and a half weeks I covered over 3500 miles went from the Kristiansand to above the Artic circle then went right into Sweden, headed south then picked up a ferry to Finland. then back to Sweden and finished up back in Norway. Loved it, Norway is 1000 miles longer than the UK and more people live in London.

Hope you like the photo's got another 200 if your local

absolutely green with envy. I've spent a lot of time working in Scandanavia, mostly Finland, and have always wanted to tour the area.

As a taster to the region

Nice video Steve, yeah it is a wonderful place! Real wilderness in Europe! One day in Northern Norway/Sweden I did 200 miles before I saw another vehicle :D Magic.
You must go its such a shame the Newcastle ferry is a no no....

You could do the loop its 'THE one' I dream of doing...
Hull to Rotterdam then Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Holland and Home... In my dreams.
Maybe next year, Russia is the tricky bit, visas

Was just looking at your great pics. Fantastic scenery and roads. Norwegian Fjords are on my must do list for sure. Thanks for posting. :)

Did the Newcastle/Kristiansand trip in 2001 & 2003 Truly amazing trips, As has being said so little traffic on the roads (5 Hrs on the Rd before we saw another vehicle) Wish we could go back but its just not practical anymore.

Peter.

Just a couple of pics and a video of some of my favourite bits of Norway, The video is not me but that road has to be possibly my all time best, The tunnel does a 360 degree turn in the dark and you might just meet a someone coming the other way  If the Newcastle /Kristiansand ferry ever runs again I will be on it.

Peter.
