RT how old ?
Hi all im thinking of p/x,ing my bike or selling/ buying an RT.( see bits and bobs for sale, pxrt4s) Im only 44 years old and at my local bike meet i meet two RT owners of about 60. I had a good look over there bikes and think the wife would like the comfort of an RT better than my S, but they said im not old enough for an RT yet, whats that all about. Ian
Two heads are better than one.!
I brought the S cause i had jap 4's since i passed my test, i fancied a twin so i got a Honda firestorm. BIG MISTAKE i didnt get on well with that, so sold that and brought the S. Im loving it, but the wife dosnt cause theres no grab handle and i had a topbox on the Bandit. so i thought : i know i'll get an RT with luggage to she can lean back and enjoy the ride in comfort and it will be better for me because its more upright.

I was in Scotland last week and followed a group of 4 RTs from Glenn Coe all the way to the Green Welly.
They were seriously quick and it got me thinking about my next bike. Fast and comfy, could be the way forward when I am ready to move on from my S.

Back on subject: my instructor is on his second RT. Bought it new on a '10' plate and has racked up almost 30K miles so far. First thing he did was shell out for a Sargent seat - reckons the standard one's uncomfortable!
He's a large chap in his mid-sixties...and knows how to ride. I happened to comment that all this IAM stuff is brill - except for the 59.5mph bit. He smiled, put his helmet on, and promptly f***ed off at a rate of knots. It took a while to catch him. The impressive corner speed and pick up out of the bends is magnified, I reckon, when the rider looks like he's chillin' in a Parker Knoll, rather than bum in the air and climbing all over the bike

There is a lot of cases where the bearing failed in the bevel box. Its a heavy bike and all the weight at the back is carried by that bearing. Comfort yes but not at the expense of reliability issues. And its got an electric reverse gear.
