It looks to me to be a council fine, in the same way a parking ticket is. London councils have 52 as a category a fine, £120 - £130, probably with a discount if you pay up quickly and don't take it to court.

A PCN. £65 if paid within 14 days, £130 After that.

What happens if you do take it to court?


You'll have a fine and a huge court costs bill as well .... refuse to pay that and the balliffs get involved and before you know it it spirals to no house, no car, no bike, no job :)

and before you know it you go a bit loopy like Maurice Kellet and accuse everyone of plotting against you :)

I suspect so, a raft of roads was closed to all traffic around Wrexham this weekend so a load of the lycra clad could pedal their way around the county. I was trapped at home for a couple of hours with a small cone with a red circle and stripe with blue filling blocked the end of the drive while they went past.

As the councils are responsible for repairs of the roads too I suspect they take total ownership. Apparently the police don't seem to be interested parking offences either nowadays as the council take charge of that too. There's a shop in the local village near to a pelican crossing, I've seen police cars go past cars parked on the double yellow lines (near the pelican cross hatching) outside the shop and not bother to book them. It's quite a busy spot as there's shops, a bus stop, a pelican, entrances to two car parks all in a 10 yard section of a busy arterial route.

Update from MAG:

"MAG is currently in dialogue at a senior level with Brent Council. At a very positive meeting, MAG's transport policy advisor learned of the very real problems Brent Council and the police have had to deal with to ensure the safety of all road users.

While MAG strongly condemns the unacceptable behaviour of the few irresponsible motorcyclists that has led to this situation, we reiterate our stance, that persecuting law abiding road users is not acceptable. We have secured assurance that the ban is temporary and has only been enacted because of very extreme circumstances. MAG continues to pursue avenues to a more acceptable solution.

MAG's National Chairman said: "MAG understands the situation faced by Brent Council and we hope they can get this matter resolved as soon as possible"."

So whoever is going to monitor any motorcyclist that ignores this ban and rides up there presumably could also monitor any miscreants that wheely or speed up there?

So no need for the ban, just shove a cctv and take the number of anyone riding inappropriately

Is it that the police are not doing anything, so the council have to deal with the problem. They could install cctv, the police could ignore it. Ban motorcyclists using a local law,, and council appointed contractors can issue PCNs and fine any motorcyclist on the road. The problem may then go away.

What annoys me about MAG, and the BMF is that they will not address the issues that causes (as they suggest), these type of actions to be imposed.
We keep hearing them say, "it's a minority spoiling it for the majority"
Well OK, then, do something.
Launch some sort of campaign against this small but significant minority.
Nope, not a chance of that.
They just bury their heads in the sand because truth be told, they know if they do, they will become alienated.

I live two miles from Bassetts pole, where on a Tues night anything up to a 1000 bikes can meet up, not really a great issue...except for the wankers on quads, open exhuasts etc, just there to create a noise because presumably it makes them feel like bikers ( youve got the wrong amount of wheels on your agricultural piece of shite you twat..its not a car, but youve not got the balls to ride a bike you twat...just my take :x )..it encourages a shed load of other like minded twats in corsa`s and saxo`s to park in the middle of the dual carriage way to watch..goad etc...not moved on by plod.

point is, every other biker there is tarred with the same brush, there is a housing estate within 400 yards...would you want to live there...every biker is thought of as a prat because of these twats, to the point where I`am loath to go there and meet friends....its just wrong

the problem I suspect is the same at the Ace, have the balls to address the people who are causing the problem rather than a blanket ban that effects the vast majority who are not causing a problem..just because it`s the easy thing to do and appeases the local residents...pathetic councillors all over, take your heads out of your arse`s and go find out for yourselves!..

Where I live they have 2 regular big bike meets during the Summer.
Wednsday bike night on the promenade in Paignton, and Thursday on Plymouth Hoe.
Always well attended by hundreds of riders.
I have never yet seen one example of the sort of behaviour we are talking about.
People just park up, mill about and check out the metal, have a coffee and an overpriced dodgy burger, and go home.
Police are always there but only to chat and socialise.
A few Wednesdays ago on the ride back from Paignton through the lanes, I came up behind a group of 4 tough looking dudes on streetfighter type tackle, small plates and quide loud exhausts and stayed with them for some miles.
Their riding was impecable.
They slowed for the 30's & 40's, and made good swift safe progress on the NSL's and the overtakes were always well planned and safe.
These guys were actually a joy to watch, and not at all what I was expecting when I came up behind them.
OK, I'm painting a very rosy picture of the South West.
We do have more than our fair share of motorcycle deaths here, but I can honestly say that compared to the South East, where I lived for nearly 25 years before coming down here, the standards of riding and general attitude down here is way above what I became used too in London and Kent.
But then, just as I finished that last sentence I realised that the average rider down here does seem to be a fair bit older.

Oh, and yet another sad story.
