On the lookout for a cheap (ish) satnav for the GS, so if your 550 is up for sale, give me a nod :-)

Handtec are usually cheapest (in my experience) - but look out for deals with Burrows.

Sometimes you can get a good price on Lifetime mapping (addition) from Amazon (listed as "used"????) - but is kosher.

So - if you get a good deal on a normal 590, you can add lifetime mapping later - for not much cost (£40-ish?)

UKGSer can be good for some S/H models, but a lot of people can have inflated ideas as to what a 660/390/590 - is actually worth. They sometimes base it on what they paid, not recognising that the new price has dropped since then,

Don't be afraid of buying NOH versions from the likes of Handtec - you are basically getting a new unit but not at Full retail packaged price.

I bought a 660 full retail package for a friend. It failed within 6months, and he sent it back to Garmin. They sent him an NOH unit by replacement. It would have been cheaper to have just bought an NOH version in the begining!

Thanks all, for replies.
Have bought a 590lm for£365 from Hdew cameras in wallington, Croydon.
most places I looked at were asking in the region of £380-£400.
sorry Dave, I will be hanging on to my 550 as it still works "just" keeping it as a spare back up for that occasion that will never happen!
If anyone interested in Hdew cameras, they have a website and can be contacted on 02086695668

That's a good price on a 590 with Lifetime maps.

The 550 is the last of the bomb-proof Garmins (the venerable 2610/2820 being the previous models), and if you aren't desperate for the money - useful to have on standby.

I bought a new Nav V, and have had no end of trouble with it. I should have just bought the 595 and a couple of mounts

No worries Paul, thanks anyway. I'll keep a look out on eBay as for the amount of time I need a satnav on the bike it's not worth investing in s new one!

Friend just bought a 340LM from Aldi brand new for £149.99! works great for the money, comes with all mounts etc. I know our Aldi in Grantham still has some. New Sat Nav for little money.
