**** New Posting policy ****

Gentlemen and Ladies of Boxertrix,

In the many years the site has been running, we have not, up to this point, found the need to put up an explicit policy about what can and can't be said on this site, largely due to the fact that vast majority of people here have the good sense to work that out for themselves. In the interest of being crystal clear though let me start a non-exhaustive list of topics which are on that (hopefully very short) disallowed topics list.

Anything which is inciting illegal activity.

Any defamatory or libellous comments about 3rd parties

Derogatory comments aimed at vast swathes of the population based on either their race, creed, colour, sexuality etc.

Any posts breaking this policy will be deleted, the poster will be contacted by a moderator to explain what has happened, and if the same person repeatedly posts inappropriate stuff, they will face what limited sanctions we can impose, such as a temporary posting ban, up to and including permanent exclusion from the site.

The principle focus of the site is motorbikes and motorbiking. We all also operate in the real works where other things are happening, and you are perfectly happy to discuss those here in the off topic forums. We even have dedicated sub-forums for topics such as hi-fi and photography, which I would be happy to expand if necessary, however if you want to discuss the failings of globalisation and our political response to that, you may be better served by alternative sites on the internet.

Apologies for having to state the bleeding obvious to a grand community of people who have for the very most part already been living within these un-stated boundaries, and I would be more than happy to discuss your thoughts on this topic.

Best regards,

Paul

We can still make derogatory comments about Harley riders, though? :?

You are right of course- and it wasn't required to be stated before.

well put Paul, regrettable as most of the posters here all know one another from the various "meets" around the country and we all rib the occasional semi alcohol induced transgression.

However, sadly of late there's been an undertone from certain new, anonymous members that's tainted the group for every one else.

Thing is, if we got to "know" the people involved and understood them and the context of their posting then a certain leeway can be applied.

For example certain posts on a weekend from certain members are obviously coloured by a decent Shiraz :) (me included).... however .... others appear to be intent on divisiveness just for seemingly their own perverse pleasure

However, MOST of the members here know one another and enjoy one another company on xxxxxxx weekends. So I'm happy that the majority is good and spoilt by a divisive minority who seem incapable of "playing nice"

No need to say anything apart from the fact that I agree 100% with what's been stated.

I would suggest that 99.99% of postings will be untroubled by this "new" request. As hope you have noticed, the forum is very lightly moderated and I can think of only a very few occasions over the past 15 years or so where either Richard, Steve or myself have had to moderate the content. Long may it continue as such.

In the most recent incident, the person whose post I objected to made the not unreasonable observation that if he was breaking the rules, he'd like an explicit declaration of what those rules are and that all are judged by them equally, hence this thread.

It is not my intention to start heavy handedly censoring or deleting the community's content. This is intended to lay down some ground rules and deal with any problems before they escalate.

If you are aware of any other forums who have tried to tackle a similar issue in a way which you think is more appropriate, I'd be open to hearing suggestions on how we can do this in a better fashion.

Cheers,

Paul

A quick thumb through this forum shows you to be the past master of derogatory terms.

I'm not trying to be confrontational.
I just find the hypocrisy of a few people here quite breath taking.

Back to your usual behaviour bikesnbones. This was put to bed before xmas and yet you have to introduce a post that was made before this ruling was introduced. You just can't help but try and cause trouble or be inflamatory can you. After all the hooha before xmas you stated that you were 'done' with this forum. You returned all the same (predictable) but you appeared to behave yourself and post like a reasonable human being. Now this. I just don't understand your mentality and why you have to be so objectionable. Other forums have the same opinion of you so you must realise that it's you with the problem and not them or us. Just grow up man. Stop sniping and starting problems and then blaming others for the fallout and you might be accepted.

I don't know what it is with this bikesnbones thing.
Never heard of him or her.
I hate political correctness but I am not going to apologize for having an opinion that's unpopular.
Now then, if I have ever been rude or insulting, show me one post that substantiates that and I will apologize.
It should be very easy, if as you say it's happened so often.
