Re: SWD
When the first one came out I saw it 11 times.
I was only a kid, but I devised a cunning plan to get in free.
Before the main feature there always used to be a short film and some trailers, and then an interval, at which point people would come out to get snacks and drinks.
I'd just tag along behind them as they went back in, because the staff didn't check tickets after that.
I loved that film, but having seen it recently for the first time since, I cannot really understand why I was so obsessed with it.

Re: SWD
At the time it defined the state of the art in film special effects. We simply hadn't seen epic space battles and special effects as impressive and convincing as that, at that time. The state of the art has advance dramatically since then, and so the original star wars now looks more like the old 1930's Flash Gordon films with Buster Crabbe. I guess we have just become jaded by the ever more spectacular visual effects that can be done with CGI these days.
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.
