Interesting , "due to ongoing field observations" yer right! due to litigation suits more like and damage limitation from more of them. Some all rounder eh! How on earth can a bike with all that mass be a capable off roader? 20 years from now enthusiasts will look back and think 200 + kilos and trail use?? Nah. Best sales con trick of all time is the GS and my how everyone buys into it. How the fcuk can the average twat suited gser pick one up if it goes down off road suited and booted with all the must have ally tureens attached?

So if there are any off road and trail experts out there... is this the tool of your choice?

Nope, I do not own one and never will

I reckon I am about to be shouted down big style! :) :)

Agreed,
I used to drive my old '56 mk8 Jaguar on worse roads than most GS riders tackle.
The thought of actually going properly off road on a 250kg plus bike is not appealing to me.

Several posts on ukgser about the fork issues and the corrosion problems!! Can't imagine going greenlaning with one though, the farthest mine will EVER go off road with me on it is to my garage, but I can pick it up off the floor  and I have done as many miles in a year on mine as I did in 4 years on the 1100s because it is far more comfortable(for me) and therefore more relaxing to ride, and with the number of twat suited riders out there who ignore other bikermates BMW seem to have done something right, present issues notwithstanding, but as most are probably on PCP most owners won't care.
