Well I for one quite enjoyed the 'robust' banter and there were many points of agreement too. Do change your mind, but either way, have a great and safe trip to France. I was looking forward to the photos.

Gripfast you obviously haven't been on the receiving end of one of his pm's full of personal abuse, I and several others have because we dared to have a different opinion.

Good riddance.

No I haven't received any pm's. I have felt a bit insulted by his posts a couple of times, but I'm old enough and ugly enough to let that wash. There is some truly shocking stuff said by people on forums*, that makes me wonder about humanity, and although fontana clearly likes to stir things up a bit, I didn't think he was in the same league.

*not on this forum, good work by moderators on this forum to allow some slack but stopping/removing anything that threatens to get out of hand.

I always though he should've tried his luck over on UKGSer - his inability to take criticism, or to accept that people hold differing views, would've stood him in good stead there.

Seriously though, its ironic that he says "come on we're all Men here, not delicate little flowers", and then flounces off like a delicate little flower! Our 13 year old daughter does that when she's had a bollocking!

To be honest , I'm glad he's going .

Never liked his confrontational attitude .

I have had as many run in's with Fontana as anyone, but personally have no real problem. You don't have to agree with him, like him or respond to him if you don't want to. You could even block him if you prefer as I know some have done.

Fontana! Flouncing out is not the right thing to do. Just don't post, or don't visit so often. That way, if you do need advice or fancy dropping by, you can. You don't need to make a song and dance about it.

Since he has been on here many of the regular posters have been noticeable by there absence and the "friendly" banter that made this site what it is/was has all but disappeared, hopefully order will now be restored, but I doubt we will have heard the last of the bloke. Probably only away on holiday :(

Pete, he would definitely go down well on UKGSER :D

Someone give me the lowdown on UKGSER?

I'm curious, but not curious enough to buy a GS.

UKGSER is full of good info and help just like on here, good write ups on trips etc, but the Beakchat and bollox section is pretty full on no holds barred for comments, slagging off, abuse etc with very little moderator input and not a place for the sensitive types, a bit different from us friendly bunch

P.S it costs £12 for full access, worth every penny.

Al - sounds a bit like Hifiwigwam where the 'Pub Car Park' isn't a place for the faint-hearted.
