So this the last outing for the White Helmets - another little piece of motorcycle culture consigned to the scrapheap...

I can't help thinking it's another 'old school' decision. Firstly it should be fabulous marketing if done in a way to attract today's audience - not sure the existing offering competes with other skills demos elsewhere. And if, as the generals suggest, bikes have no place in the modern military, just look around you - couriers are everywhere!

Ps a mate of mine was a dispatch rider in the 60s and on the big convoy moves the bikes literally never stopped. You'd pull up behind the section 4-tonner and swap riders on the move (in the dark with just convoy lights) - I think they might have even refuelled them on the go.
