Born to Run by B.Springsteen
I was bought this book for xmas, thought it would be a good rollikin rock and roll ride, It is not, it is the author shouting at you how great he is/was seeking sanctimony and heaping plaudits on all the colleagues/mates he has disposed of over his career. Moaning about what a twat his old man was and how he has suffered from it. He never even mentions his first marriage in the sequential context of things. How on earth does anyone get to the top of such a volatile industry without being an asshole! I was warned that self biography's could be one sided.. it is. Sad thing is I have made this "Draft Dodger" rich over the years
BTW on a positive note he is a Biker and speaks clearly about the enjoyment he gets from it. Fair play to the lad, his dad prepared him well if you ask me. Not a bad read but nothing as good as 50 years of The Rolling Stones

Yeh, VR 46's first biog is also dead boring and Keef's own book is the rock n roll ride you were after as is Pete Townsend's.
Can recommend them both, but steer clear of Rossi's.

Could have been worse Chris, you could have been reading about Bonio - some of what you said makes me wonder whether they were twins separated at birth

Really quite surprised Mr Richards could remember ANY of it!! True Rock and Roll hard core. No need to worry about me reading Rossi`s JohnSP250 wrote:Yeh, VR 46's first biog is also dead boring and Keef's own book is the rock n roll ride you were after as is Pete Townsend's.

I remember an interview with Keef where he was discussing the Nobel Prize for Literature awarded to St Bob Dylan. Keef said he should have been given a Nobel Prize for Chemistry!

Thanks for the heads up - life's too short
On the subject of books 'Miracle Man' by Ian Hutchinson has to be the worst dross I have read - I think - ever .
Absolute crap, grammar errors abound and the narrative is dull, dull, dull. Conversely Road Racer by Michael Dunlop is a lot more interesting.

The McGuiness book is quite good, but a different style to the excellent tome dictated by MD. Much as I'm a fan of Maria Costello, avoid any literature written by her. It's crap

Something which should appeal to you Andy is 'Wales, History of a Nation' by David Ross. An excellent and well researched read.

One for the joke thread.
Q: What's the difference between Bono and God?
A: God doesn't think he's Bono
Re: Born to Run by B.Springsteen
There was an old TOTP video of the Rolling Stones on the telly at Christmas, and our eldest commented that it seemed ironic that Keith Richards is the only famous Keith still alive, and then went through a long list of late Keiths, from Moon through Barron and Harris (Orville and Keith) to Chegwin. I'm sure there are some famous Keiths who are still alive (apart from the aforementioned Stone), but we didn't come up with any.

Good try, but I'm not sure a surname is allowed, according to the strict rules of "famous Keith, dead or alive?"

Hello,
Not a rock 'n' roller but...
Keith Floyd - One of the first "Celebrity" chefs?
Apparently he lived quite a wild life in an alcoholic haze most of the time...
Best regards,
David

I think Mr Floyd has shuffled off this mortal coil sadly
