Boxer trixers, I’ve attended to my bike today, it’s been laid up since December, I’ve charged the battery as it was low, I went to start it but it just makes a single loud click, won’t turn over and and the engine light flashes on & off any ideas?

If there's a click, I'd hazard a guess that the battery's fubarred! It'll be the solenoid you can hear. If you've got some jump leads, and something to connect them to, of course, that's the simplest way to find out.

Was the battery, even though it’s fully charged it won’t start the bike, got a gel battery for £50.

Glad you got it going Luke! Are you enjoying the bike?

The battery in the bike was probably 6 or 7 years old and was a Chinese unit, which was all I could get hold off quickly when the previous Lucas failed when I was over in St. Ives.

These bikes eat batteries if you don't keep them in top condition all of the time. The original BMW Excide failed after 2 months, the replacement Lucas lasted a couple of years and the Chinese battery lasted until your failure, so it did pretty well. I think I gave you the BMW battery tender with the bike. Keep it on that all of the time it's not being used.
