Great race although I didn't see it live, I watched the rerun on ch5 monday night and I didn't think it was as good as everyone was making it out to be but it was still a very good contest. Fantastic race craft and pulling away on the last two laps by Marquez, carries on impressing for a young man and Vins and Vinales had superb finishes but where does Rossi get his grit and determination from at 39, The GOAT

I thought it was a thrilling race!
right from the green Go! light right to the end.
It looked like a 'fast' race. Sure, they are fast, but they seemed faster than usual - not that I watch every race with detail, I watch it for the action, the moves, the thrills

oh, and Rossi - GOAT!

I`m sure that title belongs to a much bigger global sports star now deceased however I can throw some light on VR46`s longevity in the sport, no wife, no kids and relatively speaking his injuries have been few and far between. He certainly is a Wily old Goat though..

maybe another rider has better statistics, but I think in recent years, lets say the last 18, the difference in ability of the bikes is much less than 50years ago.
Therefore, its harder to get a edge, a large delta, larger margin and so it takes more balls, increased risk, higher skill.

I remember the race where Rossi and Stoner battled it out at Laguna Seca and that pass on the corkscrew.
Sure, there will be people who argue that and other moves and passes were dangerous, but thats racing and what is reqired

Is Rossi the GOAT of motorbike racing - in that format yes - to me.
Is he the GOAT of The Dakar - no
Is he the GOAT of the Isle of Man - no
Is he the GOAT of mountain biking - no

There`s only one GOAT title of all categories of sport you wish to mention. I do not even have to name him cos everyone on the planet knows who that was.

BTW most of vr46`s records are been surpassed rapidly as you have already noticed, in a much more competitive arena.

One person cannot be the GOAT over all sports and disciplines in my opinion, its not possible, I was talking purely with regard to the title of the thread. Its not just about records, its also about his character and antics. His celebrations after some races all add to is popularity and have helped make him the icon he is today

I neithrr boo nor cheer when he or another crashes out. That is wrong.

I enjoy watching MotoGP for the action, the thrills regardless of the number/team/ rider.

I would watch superbike as well if i could, and moto 3 and moto 2, but my TV doesnt allow that.

i called my beautiful wife the goat a while back.

It was about two weeks of her not speaking to me and me trying to explain to her its a complement.

The assen race was awesum, I was there, still with the 1100S
