Track Day

As my old GSXR750 had a bit of a rattle ,I took my 1100s for its first track day at Brands yesterday in the rain. I was most impressed with it, though a tad heavy, it was great pulling out the bends without having to rev it to 13k though each gear like the SRAD. Even just scraped passed the sound test with 101db
Now do I use the BM for further track days? I only do 1 or 2 a year, but its a bit good with only 8500 on the clock and sell the Gixxer?

Stick with the 11S, maybe not ultimately that quick in terms of lap times, but at least as much fun and there's that sneaky little smile you allow yourself inside your helmet everytime you stick it up the inside of a Gixer in a heavy braking area !!
Surprise a few people and use the 11S I'd say.

Thanks for the differing replies.
I was thinking of selling a couple of my bikes due to MOTs and tax. I never seem to use the GSXR on the road much and I have a KTM 400 I haven't used for a year.
I liked the 1100s on the track but would need to put some sports tyres on it for another track day.

Pottering around Druids in the rain. The track was only damp as it was the first shower of the day. No one passed me until it pisssed down and everyone else got there wets out :(

Why is it exactly these bikes are so good at breaking? I mean, with the same tyres we shouldn't have any more grip than the supersport bikes, is it because the suspension doesn't bottom out and in that case how does that impact the braking?

If you take the cyl head protectors off and unscrew the early warning screws from the footpegs you can get another couple of degrees of lean angle and ride around the outside of people on long sweepers too!

R1100S's can out-brake many other sportsbikes, not only because the telelever front end inspires confidence - so you use it harder.
But also because it doesn't dive under heavy braking, so there is less weight transfer to the front - meaning you can use the rear brake harder (because it is doing something) and then the bike is better balanced so your rolling into the corner is safer too.

My R12S has non existent rear brake, engine braking will do more good...
