Interesting video of the BMW factory found on the R1200/50RS site. It's a S1000RR they're building but you do see the odd boxer engine.

Henry Ford would be impressed. The end product is remarkable. i would not like to work on that production line or any other either.

I'd have to agree, the whole point is that they want every bike to be the same, no room for individuals on a production line!
You have to wonder when they say they use people for the jobs that the robots can't do. That's good I suppose, but as the robots get cheaper and more versatile it can't be a good feeling if you work there.

.. and BMW probably give more selectable options than any other manufacturer … much to the chagrin of the sales staff at times :D

Sales staff are probably the ones that should be happy, I can not see a robot massaging ones ego " That is the bike for you sir" I fear that now some production lines are fully automated down to the point of folding a garment and boxing it there is little point of producing humans to do such tasks.On that sobering note perhaps population control is the answer to all our problems.
