Great ride out last Sunday but didn’t end well..

Postby David_S_Walker » Wed Jun 01, 2022 12:52 pm

Hello,

Great road out on Sunday with a fine group of lads but after I had peeled off to ride my own route home a sheep jumped me and I went down and ended up in a ditch. With some passer by assistance I was somehow able to ride 12 painful miles home probably fuelled by adrenalin? A trip to A&E for 5.5 hours reported at least 3 cracked/broken ribs, Concussion and some deep lacerations on my right arm. So will be sitting at home for at least a couple of weeks on strong painkillers and generally feeling sorry for myself.

Jacket & helmet toast but have managed to source replacements already.

Here is how it started…

So please can you all have a rummage in your sheds/garages? Specifically I am after a right hand Ilmberger Carbon Fibre rocker cover guard but I’d take a pair if anyone has them. I also need an Ilmberger front fairing if anyone has one kicking about. Bar ends, levers and mirror also have serious grazing on them so looking for them as well.

A brief inspection seems I got away quite lightly but god I hurt. The sheep survived and ran off but for some reason I have gone right off roast lamb.

Best regards,

David :(

Hi David, main thing is you're (relatively) OK. I haven't got an Ilmberger carbon front fairing but I do have a spare black headlight fairing if that would help. It has a couple of minor chips but overall it's in decent condition. Let me know if it's any use

Hi David glad your ok ish and on the mend the bike may be a little harder to fix, I have the ilmberger front fairing and as far as I know they are unobtainable, I had the last specific MRA screen when mine got a stone hole on a BT Welsh ride some years ago. Good luck and hope your better soon

Popsky,

I have some 53 Omologato watches starting way back with a Hesketh. I know Shami the founder very well and often get very special invitations. They are affordable watches and I often regard myself as the unofficial Omologato librarian.

Sadly since retirement I am having to restrict my purchases…. However if there is one you fancy let me know and I might let it go to fund the repairs… So many watches but only 2 wrists

Wales is a dangerous but beautiful place to ride around though…. Just too many sheep.

Dave The German - I may have to take that off your hands but let have a few days to look around for a carbon one. There do seem to be some on eBay but you can never be sure of the quality… I’ll PM you soon.

Thanks for the good wishes - must be time for some more painkillers.

Best regards,

David :thumbright:

No problem - I've had bits and pieces for sale for a while so I cannot see a rush for a front fairing panel lol

Hello,

I think I may have to revert to the original style..

Can you drop me a pm with a delivered price to Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire when you have minut and include the 2 screens if you still have them?

Thanks and best regards,

Hi David, I'll check the screens out. One I bought as NOS is clear but has light marking on it. PM your e mail and I'll send pictures of the screens I've got and the front fairing. Unfortunately I'm back to work tomorrow night so it will be Monday before I can sort the pics

Yikes! That's not good!

Glad you're not more seriously injured though. One bit of advice - don't put pepper on your food

That was a good looking 12s - good luck in getting it back to normal.
If I am ever on life support - Unplug me......
Then plug me back in..........

See if that works .....

Oh and Dave the German, I have sourced a brand new standard fairing (which I will have carbon wrapped I think) but would probably be interested in your screens if you could let me have some pictures please? david at fairseat dot com will get them to me.

As a consequence of all this I will probably have (for an R120S) a screen for an Ilmberger front fairing and a left hand side (As you sit on the bike) Ilmberger carbon fibre valve cover for sale…. Also a BMW System 6 helmet with scuffing on the top. Size 58/59. Has clear and tinted visors with it. (Tinted one slight marking after the spill). Wouldn’t normally sell a helmet that has suffered strife of course but this one has the BMW Communication system installed in it which could be carefully removed and reused? I have managed to source a replacement helmet with one already installed in it

Both the motorcycle and I will live to fight another day…

Best regards,

David :thumbright:
