I've a bloody shopping list for bikes - and you've destroyed another reason for holding on to the cash/avoiding a loan! :?

I have a multi-bike policy with Carole nash. They were very expensive initially, but I achieved about a 35% reduction, competitive with ebike, after some haggling.

Interestingly enough adding a 1980 Ducati reduced my premium by £25 - I just need to buy another 19 of them and I should get paid to ride them.

I think you should paid now for riding a 1980 Ducati

Once bought a '75 GT860 in Manchester. Nearly made it to Doncaster before it stopped---complete electronic ignition failure.

Unreliable - I rode my 900ss to Greece for a holiday in 1983, and it only broke down 3 times! Ignition switch, kickstart and rear sprocket cush drive failed.

I got really fed up with it after a rebuilt crank lasted 1500 miles, and bought a new GSXR1100K  instead.

I must be a glutton for punishment since I've acquired another 2 Bevel Dukes since then. The electrics are the least of my worries. Cranks and gearboxes are the big trouble (expense).

Maybe I should take it on the Flash tour!

Funnily enough one of my ex bosses had the cush drive fail on his 900SS as well, think I'll stick with my newly acquired Moto Guzzi V50 mark II that I got for £250 :)

It's not actually a big deal to fix the cush drive - unless you're in the middle of southern Yugoslavia, as I was then!

Insurance Quote

Just tried the Bennetts online quote facility and after typing in all the details, the website fell over just as I was awaiting my quote !
I just had my renewal premium from BMW Motorrad and despite the fact that I've just changed from an R1200RT to an R1100S (worth about half as much) their renewal quote was £80 per year higher for fully comp insurance - not impressed.
So I phoned Carole Nash to get an alternative quote and they immediately beat BMW Motorrad by £60 per year. Went back to the BMW people for a revised quote and they reduced their premium by a full £110 per year.
And the moral of the story is: don't accept the first quote you get...

Sound advice. :)

I NEVER accept any renewal quote until ringing around other brokers, and it never fails to produce a cheaper premium.
