The longest journey made me think of some of my quickest journeys. None in the last twenty years, but from pre-camera days. Familiar routes that many others will have done themselves.
Like St Osyth, Jaywick Sands near Clacton, Essex to Finchley Central in N London. On a Z650, two up. Arrived at our local pub at 19.15 hrs on a Sunday, almost exactly an hour after leaving the caravan. Via A12 and A406. AA route planner says that's 85 miles, 2 hours 6 mins. Ahem.

Oyster. 1999 R1100S. Almost original.
A long time ago...
Birmingham to "Holimarine", Burnham-on-Sea (where my sister was working, so free holidays!), 115 miles, 1hr 45mins. Hurrah for the days before Gatso.
Ive just looked on Google... Holimarine Burnham is still there! I hope they've tidied it up a bit... what a hole!

100 miles in 1 hour. Midnight on a sunday in reply of a service call to assist a startup of some production equipment.
On a BMW K100RS. Remember riding on an empty highway and closing in fast on, what appeared to be, a police car. Only hesitated for moment before I decided to keep the pace (a firm 125 mph) and overtook him, knowing I'd take the next exit and disappear in the night ....

My quickest was a scarcely credible 90 minutes to do Wheatley (Oxford) to Bristol x-country (A40, Bibury, Cirencester, Tetbury, C/Sodbury, M4 and in) - 80 miles or thereabouts. On the R65 again - given its comfortable top whack of about 70, I'm a little doubtful, but that's what I thought my watch said... But it was on a summer afternoon and there was absolutely no traffic - all you had to do was point and squirt, so it might have been possible.
It's potentially still a fast fun route - traffic permitting.

Since there is no evidence to support my claims, I could be talking real BoxerBollox:
Stockton to York, 50 miles, half dual, half winding single (more so than now) with a few villages, 34 minutes. 88 mph ave. GPZ600R or YPVS 350, can't remember.
Stockton to Ashford, Kent (pre-most of the M20), 330 miles, 3hrs 45m, one petrol stop. 88 mph ave. GPZ600R. Compared to 2000 when I couldn't even beat 4 hours to get to Rochester which is 50 miles nearer. And that might have been in the car.
They're the only significant ones for me. Nowadays I think if maintain an average greater than 60mph for my run to/from Leatherhead (all motorway-type miles) then I'm doing well.

Actually, come to think of it..
I used to (early 1990s) fairly regularly ride from my parents place in Birmingham, to my place in Acton, West London, about 120 miles.
Most times the ride back was in the early hours of the morning, and my route was from Hall Green, Birmingham, all the way down the old A41 (and B4100) to Aylesbury, through Warwick, Banbury, Bicester, then onto the A413 through the Chilterns and Chalfonts, joining the A40 at Gerrard Cross all the way to Acton.
On one particularly fast run I beat 1hr 30mins, then each time after I'd try to beat it. I finally did 1hr 18mins on a CBR400RR, NC29 (derestricted), leaving Birmingham at 2.30am, before they started putting divertions around towns etc and eventually speed cameras which slowed the route up too much to beat the time.
Oh yes.... Allegedly!

Quickest journey was the Severn Bridge services to Theale (M4 12), about 78 miles............ it took just 35 minutes.
It was a long time ago though, no cameras, and I thought it had blown up when it ran onto reserve at 70 miles from filling up!!!
Shortest journey was about 30 feet up my parents driveway on my brother's C70. The journey stopped when I hit the garage door.

Centre of Manchester (the University) to flat in St Johns Wood, London in just under two hours. Early one Sunday morning - no traffic.
The year was approx. 1968 and the c*r was a 1959 Porsche 356 Carrera. Actually all but the engine was genuine Carrera - the engine was from a 356SC (about 1965 vintage), because the actual Carrera engine wouldn't run on the road. There wasn't much in the way of motorways in those days either.
