Gilding the lillie

Postby Dog Tyred » Mon Mar 31, 2008 5:58 pm

Cruising MCN Used Bikes For Sale and stumbled across this little masterpiece of the salesmans craft....

"SPORTS ACE The race for the limited edition BMW R 1100 S BoxerCup Replika bikes - model year 2004 is on (production limited to 1,100 models). The raised sports suspension is designed for extreme leaning and the sound-optimised sports silencers by the company LASER ensure ideal performance delivery. The BoxerCup Replika features exactly the same design and three-colour paintwork as the racebikes of the BMW Motorrad BoxerCup 2004. The Replika is sports perfection down to the last detail: for example the aerodynamic engine spoiler and the protective cylinder head covers made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic. The Replika is equipped with Metzeler High-Performance tyres for the road and the racetrack. So be sure not to miss out on this reliable endurance bike with its thrilling sprint qualities. Your pulse will accelerate to maximum speed when you take the Replika out for a test ride".

Now I know we all think they're a great bike but......'aerodynamic engine spoiler' ehh? does that make it faster at top speed then :? and if my cylinderhead covers are 'carbon fibre reinforced plastic' I'm a dutchman's uncle. And how come it goes from being 'sports perfection' to a 'reliable endurance bike'? all in the same add.

And as for my 'pulse accelerating to maximum speed.......' this chap has obviously never ridden a Busa.

Me thinks he may have this bike on his hands for some time to come.

Oh by the way, the price? £7795

Ho hum
Ride like your life depended on it.
