Hello,

A very haunting place.

We went there as we had seen it in the opening credits of the series "The World at War" which some of you may remember. It was a sunny day when we arrived but on entering the martyred village a storm broke out with thunder & lightning which lasted but 10 minutes. After we emerged from shelter we looked at a notice board and realised quite shockingly that we had arrived at the same time as the Nazis had on the anniversary of that awful day.

It is well worth a stop by if ever you are passing to pay your respects if nothing else.

Superb picture by the way

Best regards,

David

Some of the members on here - remember the actual event!

Thanks for the comment - I took it because of the pattern in the vapour trails (con-trails to our American cousins) - which mimicked the tram cables ....

The garage with all the cars.

The butchers

If you have a good look around of what was left you'll see a lot of sewing machines. It was brutal and unthinkable that something like this happened. Middle East and IS de ja vue.
