Sorry guys, wasn't serious about this, perhaps I should have called it a bauble rather than a trinket

I'll sticky this, but move it to the Boxertech section as it'll hopefully answer many of the suspension q's that get asked there. :)

OK friends

I've addressed a request to the Mecca of shocks (PENSKE : Rolls Royce of things) asking for 8970/80 series of stuff for R12S bikes.

http://www.penskeshocks.com/files/PS-8987WITHCD.pdf

No reply (yet).

Cross fingers (and have ready 1500E for each, but then again we live once, he he).

Just as a minor detail to confuse the issue or an amusement!!!,when it comes to racing their are two serious runners, the one is Ohlins who with them being now back in Swedish ownership having been bought back from Yamaha and have the TTX which is a re-invention of wheel as the internals are a world away from the old version, which no doubt will filter down to us mear mortals.

The other!! is Showa, those of all things massed produced, the irony!!,you cannot buy them no matter how much money you've got, lease yes,and you even get a technican, but all come off the bikes at the end of the season, sell an upmarket shock to us punters??,no chance,it's a funny old game e'h.

Racing Showa stuff is indeed from another planet. Not sure about the TTX hype, mind (recently I rode a TTX36 Blade > shocks are very good but far from being the next best thing after sliced bread, not to mention the price).

IMHO the Ohlins case (especially for mere mortals, non racers et all) is a "bit" overestimated. This is not to say that Ohlins are bad...but other less advertised brands offer equally good products (and maybe better) for less cash.

Winger..... You have been a great source of info on this site..... especially for those items that one would normally upgrade the std bike to get a "personal" bike that just goes better. Y piece, suspension, steering angles, brakes etc etc etc.... BUT....

I have never seen a picture of your S (1100)... can you indulge me/us?

Sorry if this is a little off topic.

Stuart

It's a long complicated story,as a gent who came to the house said,'I think you have a love hate relationship with it' and thats true over the years on a warm sunny day,i have hated it with a passion the way it has vibrated when it had done less miles, beleave me there ain't an S on this board thats been pasted over a distance like this has,god knows how it's still in one piece, but when we were ready to go to the German WSB round in september and the forcast looked crap, went on the S,even though i'd preped another bike, with the big tank etc still covers ground with best of e'm.

So they say,by the folk who have never tried e'm  ,if it wasn't for the fact my dear wife tells me she's going to have my S buried with me,i'd sell it,because when i get on that K,it feels and steers like a very large barn door,i'm sure i'll ajust
