Hopefully it'll be a useful font of tyre-type info.

Just my opinion for what its worth
metz sportec are my #1 choice for outright grip but the rear is puncture prone and mileage isnt great
dunlop 208 would be my next choice . great front tyre , back slides around a bit but the usual query on mileage and puncture resistance

Tried some orrible continental contiforce .The front just wanted to tuck all the time and on cold wet days the rear spun up so much at one stage i thought i had clutch slip. To add insult to injury the rear only lasted the same as dunlops.
Just fitted a set of roadtec z6's . The lure of a possible 10k was too much to resist. Nigel B.

I reckon you'd only get 10k if you only drove round bends or drove really carefully. The last set of Z6s did about 8.5-9k on the back and they were well well well past their 'scare by' date by then. Good tyres though I reckon. IMHO the BT20 is no better and wears out one hell of a lot quicker than the Metz.

I went Pilot Sports with regard to the Downunder S. The tyres work really well there in the warmer conditions.
Will be reacquainting myself with that very shortly!

I had Metz Sportecs on originally but only got just over 2k on the rear....so have tried roadtec....less grip but they last really well in comparison.
For me Sportec for grip, road tec for life

I think Roadtecs life depends very much on how you ride - I worked out the other day that the Z6 i took down to the canvas only lasted 5,5K miles...


Anyone used the Continental Conti-Attacks yet?? Might look into them for the next pair (once I've killed this M1Sportec/BT020 combination)

Looked at these recently but @the time i didn't have a 5.5" rim (they only do 180/55 rears) . They have a claimed 7mm of tread which is up to 2mm more than competitors . Plenty of happy users locally but no s riders.
