Take one 5/32" carbide slot drill (turns out these fasteners are hard and 5/32" was the smallest we had) and grind a drill point on it....
Mount the piece in a chuck and drill.....
Make a peg from an old 5/32" drill bit....
Drive it in and Super-Glue it....
Drill and notch a 2p coin...
Fits tidy 'cos the 'slot' is actualy a quadrant of a circle the same dia' as a 2p coin...
Jobble done, Tamper-proof DZUS
Now, all I need is a seat cover to replace the one that went AWOL last week.
TAMPER-PROOF DZUS FOR THE SEAT COVER? SORTED!

It's all VFR (DCT) round here now. STILL missing my 1100s tho.

Al.
Al, Her face is the last thing Maj is worrying about what with the rest of 'The Firm' having trouble keeping their clothes on.

dave the german wrote:Nick, looks good. For the pins I was thinking possibly use the rivet from a push bike chain - not sure of the diameter but they're pretty hard and I can get hundreds of them
cheers mate, As I say, had to use the shank of a 5/32" drill bit 'cos when I tried to drill the 'DZUS' with a H/S centre drill it proved to be 'hard' and a 5/32" dia' carbide slot drill was the smallest I could find in the workshop so that dictated the size of the 'pin'. If I was to do another 'set' I would turn a couple of pins from aluminium stock thus avoiding having to coat/paint because of rusting problems. The pins don't need to be hard. Afterall they're only there to stop an unmodified coin being inserted. I have to say some of my mates have accussed me of being 'paranoid' and 'over the top' with this but I've learned from the bitter experience gained from living in a big city that if you don't nail stuff down, it will, eventualy, 'walk'
