Boxercup(2004) suspension replacement.

Hi there, looking to replace the suspension on my 2004 Boxercup. I have looked at Hagon and Nitron websites but it looks like those units are for the standard suspension units but I believe the Boxercup ones are longer as the bike sits higher. I will give Motorworks a call but I'm sure someone must have asked this before, so I thought I'd ask here for any suggestions.

I'm not 100% certain but I think the Nitron shocks come with adjustable length (the one I've got fitted to the Blackbird has) so you may have enough leaway to get the shock to '04 BCR' length.

The Nitron rear may well have have a height adjuster - the one on my 1150GS does. As far as I know the front shock is the same length and it's the forks that are longer but I may well be wrong.

I have Ohlins on my BCR and the rear has a height adjuster but the front doesn't.

Wilbers are longer than standard, our non-BCR has Wilbers & sits as high as a RWB BCR.

To clarify - that would depend upon what length was requested from them.

Where did your rear come from, Rob? Direct from Revs, or was it on the bike when you bought it?

Thanks for the replies, must admit I went into Motorrad in Dalkeith and asked for some tech info and god bless them they were trying to convince me to go for Ohlins! Only £1400. I'm really, really tempted but on a 10 year old bike, thats probably 25% of it's value. Waiting for some info from Motorworks but this could prove expensive! Regards Robin.

Contact the lads at Revs Racing and see what they can come up with?

You'd notice a big difference going from fresh OEM shocks to Wilbers - so the difference between 10yr-old OEMs and New Wilbers - should be immense!

You may shell out £800 on the Wilbers, but should always get back £400+ (I think) if you sell after a few years.

Wilbers for my money ….huge improvement over stock.

Thanks for the info. I'll give the company a call about the wilbers.. What sort of costs are we talking about for a pair(front and rear?)

That's not a bad price to be honest. I've seen closer to £1,800. Have you priced up Nitrons? They'll come to around £1,000. I took the plunge for my GS and am very happy.

Hi there. Got some info from Darren at Motorworks, very helpful guy, suggesting Hyperpro and looking on their website they do dampers and spring sets. They even have a boxed set, front and rear for R1100's. Anyone used them? Seem a good price. Regards Robin.

Nothing wrong with Hyperpro, from what I've heard.


But - make sure that they are the correct length for the RWB BCR (rather than stock R1100s)

Also - make sure you are happy with the level of adjustment, compared to Wilbers, and I'd also recommend getting a quote for Wilbers from Revs.

How important (if at all) is remote pre-load adjustment to you?
