Sidestand switch BCR

Postby Motostratos » Thu Mar 05, 2015 5:22 pm

Has anyone had any issues with their sidestand switch on their bikes ? I have an '04 BCR (owned from new) and have been very lucky with reliability in the 11 years i have owned it. However, i believe the sidestand switch is playing up, as the bike sometimes cuts out when the sidestand is down and the bike is in neutral. On restarting, it will run, but quite rough, before clearing and running smoothly again.

Had a look at the switch today and it appears to be a pain to remove. Has anyone here changed this part and could offer some top tips ?

Many thanks.

Thanks, have thought about that (and may end up doing just that), but would like to go down the switch route first. Haynes reckon it is a simple circlip and removal, but that doesn't seem possible without removing the sidestand completely and potentially the left side exhaust header. Annoying

Don't bypass the side stand safety switch. In the course of my job I have witnessed tragic consequences as a result of this practice.
