Twin spark stick coils

Postby dave1100s » Sun Jul 03, 2016 7:14 pm

I assume that the twin spark 1100s uses the same stick coils as my 03 1150GS? If so, has anyone found a good supplier of second hand ones or an alternative part that is specified for other bikes or cars that will do the job? Or will I just have to bite the bullet and pay for a new genuine BMW one

Does it? I bought a secondhand coil to try and sort out the rough running.
So im not sure that it still has sticks?
Maybe that is why the coil didnt fix the problem? Haha.

same part numbers alright , loads of ideas in this 15 page thread including converting back to single spark... although even this isn't apparently as straightforward as it seems.

Cheers fellas, wasn't sure if the 1100s twin spark used stick coils or not. I'll have look at the links, and see what options I have got. Thanks again.

I'm sure this has been done to death elsewhere but I came up with altenative numbers for the Beru ZS 385 which seems to be around £70 or 80 stg.
All the aftermarket listings suggest these are only used on Bm Motorbikes so if available will probably be similar in price to the Beru.
Meat and Doria is the only popular aftermarket manufacturer that I recognise, so I asked through work to see if they're available.

Meat&Doria 10703
Hoffer 801073
Wilmink WG 1012493
Sidat 85.30397

 my bike is of the single spark plug variety.
Sorry for any confusion.
I have sent myself to the naughty step.

Beru ZS385 seem to be the only one readily available (although only to order in this part of the world).

Neil.........you are forgiven and can now come off the naughty step :D

Nab, thanks mate for the alternative part numbers, I'll have search about and see what I can get.

There seems to be a decent supply of second hand ones, but as they stopped manufacture in 2004/2005, even the newest second hand ones will be 10 years old plus, so I'd rather replace with new and also I'd like to replace the pair and keep my good one as a spare.

Again, cheers chaps for the great advice :D
