R1200R R1200S hugger compatability

I'm still looking for a rear hugger for my recently bought R1200S.
To broaden my search, just wondered if a hugger for a R1200R of the same era would also fit a R1200S?
The mountings look the same but maybe the exhaust configuration difference between the R1200R and the R1200S might be an issue...... ?

It's OK now, I don't need to know if a R1200R hugger will fit my R1200S - I've just bought an Ilmberger hugger on Ebay for £100.............. :hello1:
It comes without the mounting bolts though.
Guess it's just a matter of buying bolts that are longer than the originals, by the thickness of the Ilmberger.
Would it be an idea to go for stainless steel bolts or does it really matter?
Cheers

The original bolts have a captive washer on them if its the same as mine, all you need to do is remove the washer from the original three bolts. Not too difficult but you need to be careful not to damage the threads. The other option is to get new bolts the same length as the original that do not have the washer and robert is your mothers brother.

Thanks all.

I've now contacted Ilmberger and they can supply the three bolts for €10.90.
Not sure yet whether to go with these or just use the originals without the washers......

They also, very helpfully, emailed me fitting instructions for their Hinterradabdeckung

I don't recall the screws having captive washers when I fitted my Ilmberger hugger? I could be wrong, I normally am.

My hugger arrived with replacement screws, despite being advertised as being sold without, so wait and see what arrives, and if necessary order from Ilmberger. These screws hold the back plate of the final drive in place, so I would be far happier using the correct screws and ensure they are torqued correctly.

I ordered from Ilmberger and the bolts came in a fancy little Ilmberger bag - worth the money just for the bag

The Ilmberger bolts might not have the captive washer, I just ordered new final drive bolts from Motorworks and cut the washers off. Only cost a fiver. The thickness of the hugger is the same as the washer and you just torque to specification. Would love a special little bag though.

Me too..........
Bought it off Flea Bay advertised as coming without bolts
Big box arrived filled with loads of random packaging and of course the Ilmberger hugger.
If I hadn't read your post I'd have junked the box & packaging.
Instead I rooted around all the foam and paper and Voila! there were the three bolts!
Thanks..... :)

PS The only downside is that I won't now get a fancy little Ilmberger bag....... :crybaby:
