2000 year r850r Headlamp help please

Postby pc-uk007 » Fri Jan 27, 2017 8:34 pm

Hi, I have a Head lamp that appears to be fogged up on the inside of the headlamp, it is the original equipment a H4, I have removed headlamp unit from bike and its chrome rim where unit is held in place by spring clips but the glass appears to be bonded to rear reflector I was going to use a heat gun to try and separate the bond but I will have to re bond it again ?? do I use hot glue to do this ?? has anyone done this before and would not mind sharing info how to do this, thanks in advance Peter.

Can't help with the separation query, but what do you want to achieve by doing this? If it's purely to remove the misting surely you could do this without separating the lens from the reflector, perhaps by just directing your heat gun or a hair dryer through the hole for the headlamp bulb?
Might be worth a try, unless there is another reason to separate the two?

Sorry, hadn't spotted this before Peter. As McBoxer says, gotta be worth a try just to dry the unit out and refit it. Just having it indoors for a couple of days should do the trick. I've done this once before and the misting problem didn't come back.

Hi guys, Thanks for help but it is not moisture that is inside the headlamp it is almost like the headlamp is full of smoke, I can only assume that headlamp glass and reflector needs polishing ??

Has anyone here got the same issue as me ??
