Rear Brake Master Cylinder R1100S

Postby rogerslater » Sun Feb 19, 2017 5:31 pm

I can't make much sense of the instructions in the manual for setting the pushrod clearance for the rear M/Cyl. It talks about 0.20 mm clearance under the stop screw where the brake light switch is, but that seems to be automatically taken up by the return spring on the pedal shaft and in any case the stop screw can be screwed in or out.

I've replaced my bmc twice in my ownership but today was the first time I've actually had a look at that section of the manual  . Are you using the OE bmw manual , mine mentions pressing down the brake pedal and then measuring the clearance , Is yours an ABS model ?

Mine is a 1998 non ABS model. I am using the BMW PDF manual, but mine doesn't mention pushing down on thepedla but just taking up the play with the threaded rod and locknut to give .2mm clearance at the switch stop.
