Barbacks and bars above yokes

Postby andy griff » Wed Apr 26, 2017 9:18 pm

Advice for friend please

He has a set of Barbacks but is also considering placing the standard bars above the yokes. Can member help with the following questions please -

1. How have members prevented the standard bars from turning on the fork legs if placing them above the yokes ?
2. With either that arrangement or the Barbacks do the fluid reservoirs hit the standards screen on lock?

Any help greatly appreciated and photos even more gratefully received

Cheers

Andy

I had bars above the top yoke for years, never had an issue with the bars fouling anything or moving, just check tighten every so often. With either option brake lines will probably need to be replaced, lots of bar backs sold and I have not seen any posts regarding issues about fouling etc.

Comfort bars have a tab that is more for locating them in the correct position above the top yoke , the standard bars will be fine without and I've used barbacks in the past ( they have no locating tag) just torqueing them up correctly was sufficient .

With bar backs you'll need to position the bars carefully to avoid clashing with the screen but it is possible .
