that when you're working on one area of your bike, something completely unrelated to what you were doing goes wrong.
I dropped out the back wheel and silencer unit off my 1100RS today to do a bit of cosmetic tidying
Got it all back together, turned on the ignition and have no power to fuel pump and starter motor.

That`s what happens when you start faffing, (cosmetic tidying) if it ain`t broke don`t fix it... is a good policy to follow

I have been there, done that and it is a royal pain in the ass.
