Best roadside pump

Postby dave the german » Sat Aug 19, 2017 3:46 am

Just setting off from work this morning and the bike didn't feel right - bloody screw in back tyre - only done about 300 miles on it. Fortunately one of our shunters had a pump in the car. I was just thinking of getting one for my jollies along with a repair kit. What have the collective used/can recommend?

This! -

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Airman-Compact-Compressor-Inflator-Gauge/dp/B006B96OGS

Fantastic thing - I bought one after reading lots of reviews. Its small, it has a 2-way plug which fits both car-type power outlets and the BMW DIN-type ones, it has a screw-on connector instead of the usual snap-on one that lets out lots of pressure on removal, the gauge is quite accurate too.....and, above all, its fast compared to the run-of-the-mill ones that eBay is awash with! It comes in a nice little carry bag too.

Highly recommended! :D

Thanks for the link. Does it work with Canbus? It appears the can bus system switches itself off if too much current is drawn and may be better connected direct to the battery.

It works OK via my '05 reg ST's power outlet, although when looking at various reviews, I recall some people having issues that they reckoned were Canbus related. I bought a power socket/croc clip adapter as a backup...£1.99, does the job perfectly...I forgot to mention that!
