just mig it ,,,, a tenner will get a local welder to do it , simple job , no need for tig , it wont last for more than a year or two , but gives you time to look for what you really want ,,, ive done a lot of exhausts as temp fixes ,,
by the time you clean it and tig it properly with back purges etc its not worth the expense if you cant do it your self.
maybe a local forum member will step in and glue it together for a beer.

Hi All, Just a question on this subject. If your replacing the stock cat with the Dan Moto pipe are there any other upgrades required.
Cheers.

+1
I've just paid the tax on my DanMoto Y piece ( delivery this week I hope ) and will be fitting it sometime early in the New Year.
As far as I know no other mods are required are they ?

I've tried cleaning it back to clean metal, and it's like lace. Ironic that they've used a mild steel section to connect 2 stainless sections together.

Anyway, I've picked up a carbon oval under-seat can from ebay. No idea what it's from, but I know one thing for sure, it's going to sound a bit fruitier than it did! Will update with photos once some progress is made.

Keith and Frog, nothing else to do exhaust wise as removing the Cat seems to be in fashion, but have a search about the air filter mods.
The engine will breath better then with both attended too.
A good winter job!

Thanks for the info, only reason for my question was feedback from various forums suggesting re-chipping the 11s when changing the exhaust system and also an air filter mod.
I have now removed the cat and fitted the danmoto pipe which was quite a simple procedure (Lucky Me) and the bike runs fine and the exhaust sounds a bit louder.
Would be interested in any recommendations on the air filter upgrade.
Cheers

Search for ‘Val Singleton’ which is a Heath Robinson way of duplicating the hard to find air filter set up from the USA (SJ BMW?).
With the engine breathing better there may be a chance of it running leaner, so a temperature spoofing device should be used to make sure you don’t get detonation.
I’m certainly an amateur at this so I’m only trying to point you in the right direction!

Slow progress on this unfortunately, but I've managed to get a bit more done recently.

Oval carbon can from ebay - rebuilt with new acoustafil packing, a couple of stainless 45 degree mandrell bends and the services of a local man with a TIG gives me this:

The mount is attached via a fabricated stainless T bracket and sits underneath the seat release catch.

Sounds great, and nowhere near as loud as I had first anticipated! Some better pics and a video when it's done.

Agreed! Never seen a single on the 1100S before and it makes it very individual.
I’m going the other way numerically and fitting a triple that has been sat in the box for over a year now.

Thanks guys.

I've just about finished the number plate mount, indicators and new wiring for both. Unfortunately things happen slowly here, but I'll get some pictures up of the end result soon.
