R1100S 5.5 Rear Wheel

Postby timf4750 » Tue Feb 26, 2019 11:03 am

Hi all,

I have a '99 R1100S and want to take it to Boxer Cup spec. Does a 1150R Rockster rear wheel fit - are they the same as that fitted to the Cup?

Part numbers on RealOEM are the same for the non-ABS 1100S with 5.5" option and the Rockster. I can't see any ABS option for the Rockster (might just be me though...!), or any narrower wheel, so if your 1100 is non-ABS, the Rockster wheel should fit.

Thanks Pete, mine is non ABS and that was my hunch.
Cheers,

The only difference between ABS wheels and non afaik is the disc mounting posts , the ABS ones are machined shorter to make room for the abs ring . I'm guessing an abs one would fit non abs bike if the abs ring(spacer) is fitted . The disc won't be central in the caliper otherwise.

You're right Nigel. I put a 5.5 inch rear on my non-ABS 1100S back in the day. The wheel was from an ABS model and someone on the forum kindly machined up some alloy spacers to make up the difference.

Cheers
